Why we need you


Typically, the Apprentice Quantity Surveyor will support: –

  • Managing costs on a wide variety of new civil engineering and drainage projects for both private and public sector clients.
  • Undertake costs analysis for all projects
  • Working closely with the existing commercial and operational staff
  • Assisting in establishing a client’s requirements
  • Performing risk and value management and cost control
  • Advising on procurement strategy
  • Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities
  • Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
  • Preparing and analysing quoting for tenders
  • Allocating works to sub-contractors
  • Providing advice on contractual claims
  • Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports
  • Valuing completed work and arranging payments
  • Maintaining awareness of the different building and civil engineering contracts in current use
  • Understanding the implications of Health & Safety regulations
  • The Apprentice Quantity Surveyor will be provided with training designed to enhance and develop soft skills and technical capability through a blend of classroom-based learning and on the job training.  We will provide you with the support and mechanisms to build a successful career, including support with chartership.

The requirements

This apprenticeship will require a day a week to be spent at college.  Entry requirements are 5 GCSEs of equivalent including maths and English.
