Why we need you

Between the 20th and 31st July West London NHS Trust & Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust are running a Allied Health Professionals Virtual Work Experience Programme. The 2 week programme will involve 10 hours of activity that students can fit around their schedule.

There are 14 allied health professions in the NHS: Art Therapists, Drama therapists, Music therapists, Chiropodists/podiatrists, Dietitians, Occupational therapists, Operating Department Practitioners, Orthoptists, Osteopaths, Paramedics, Physiotherapists, Prosthetists and Orthotists, Radiographers and Speech and language therapists.

The main focus of this work experience programme will be on the work of Occupational Therapists. Occupational Therapists support people with a range of interventions to enable them to return to or optimise participation in all the things that people do; for example, caring for themselves and others, working, learning, playing and interacting with others.

Students who gain a place on the programme will meet NHS professionals virtually, learn about the key values and qualities they’ll need to succeed as an Allied Health Professional and they’ll take part in virtual workshops. Students will complete work and activities which will help them to explore key themes within nursing.

The benefits

This work experience programme will give students the chance to see life inside the NHS. They’ll learn about day-to-day life as an Occupational Therapist, learn how to analyse activities and support patients to overcome barriers in their day to day lives.

Students can take part from the comfort of their own home. All they’ll need to access this programme is a computer that they can use for 10 hours over the 2 weeks. They can fit the work around their schedule, even if they’re unable to attend live webinars they’ll be able to access recordings.

This Allied Health Professionals Virtual Work Experience programme will give students experience that makes their CV or personal statement stand out. They’ll receive a certificate upon completing this work experience programme.

Our goal is to let students see for themselves the possibilities a career in the NHS will open.
